Napoleontic sabre (Sabre Cavalerie Legere AN XI), semi-sharp

The swords of the third class Basic are primarily made for decoration, although this does not mean they are not functional for basic activities. They have an untempered blade that runs through the entire grip and a hardness of up to 48 HRC. The pommel is screwed onto the end of the grip, making the swords less suitable for receiving regular blows. These swords are not optimally balanced and can sometimes feel heavy in the hand. The quality is lower than in classes Medium and High.

If sharp, the sword is functional but not suitable for regular use or cutting tests. If blunt (battle-ready), it is equipped with a rounded tip. It is then safe against injuries and ideal to wear at festivals, although it is only suitable for occasional sparring.

Tip: how to adjust the finish of plate armor and weapons yourself

Luxury (polished) – polish the steel with metal polish or toothpaste. You can even polish an item to a mirror finish with this. Test on a small area first!

Hand-made (matte) – place the steel in cola for 40 minutes to 20 hours. Regularly check the matte effect. Smooth the finish with black sandpaper.

Antique (patinated) – place the steel in a damp environment (preferably outside) and let it rust. Remove the red layer of rust, leaving the corroded surface layer.
