Product description

This sword is based on originals made in the first half of the 10th century. The sword is classified as a Petersen Type P. Around the time swords like this were in use, the Vikings were establishing permanent settlements in northern England, creating the Danelaw. This was a period of major Viking expansions, during which Dublin and other settlements in the Irish Sea region were founded. In 872 AD, Harald Fairhair unified Norway, and between 958 and 987 AD, Harald Bluetooth unified Denmark. The formation of both states was modeled on the structures of the Franks and Anglo-Saxons.
