This model building kit is made of A3 carton and printed in eight colors. It measures 23 x 14 x 20 cm. The Porta Nigra was built between 160 and 200 AD. It was the large northern gate of the Roman city wall around the city of Trier. It is the largest still standing Roman building on German soil. The upper part of the gate consists of open arches. Attackers who came near to the gate, were pelted from all directions with slings and (thrusting) arrows. This model shows the Roman city gate in all its details. It is unknown how the Romans themselves called it. Presumably, it was not unique and several city gates occurred at a number of cities on the Limes.
