A beautiful medieval sword by Windlass, based on a historical sword from around 1400 in the Wallace Collection. Swords like this were used by knights on the Shrewsbury battlefield. This type of sword is specially designed to punch through plate armor and chainmail. Therefore, the blade is long, narrow and sharp. During a battle, one could find the weak point in a suit of armor or a hole between two pieces of armor, and thus pierce cavalry armor. This sword is perfect for cutting and thrusting. This replica sword has a cross guard with two open crosses. The semi-sharp blade is forged from tempered 1065 carbon steel with a hardness of 48-52 HRC. This type of steel has a strong edge and is very flexible. It is delivered including a leather scabbard with a cross. A nice sword for a reenactment or medieval outfit. When you blunten the sword, it is a great battle ready sword for sword fighting and Historical European Martial Arts.

Prevent rust and corrosion by oiling your weapons regularly. Remove rust easily with black sandpaper. Remove burrs with a whetstone. Make sure you have removed all burrs before using a battle-ready weapon, as they can cause wounds.

Maintenance & care
Just as with weaponry, you can care for your shoes and leatherware by applying a little Ballistol after cleaning. This prevents the leather from drying out.

Sharpening service

This item is semi-sharp and designed for decorative purposes. It can be made razor sharp at a surcharge. When using the sharpening service, the return right and warranty expires. The extra delivery time is approx. 2 weeks.

Blunting service

The blade of this sword can be blunted (2,5-3 mm) at a surcharge. Please note: although the thickness will be the same as a battle-ready sword, the return right and warranty expires when using the blunting service. Please contact us if you wish to use the blunting service, or make a note at the last step of your shiopping cart. The extra delivery time is approx. 2 weeks.

Tip: How to adjust the finish of your armour and weaponry
Luxurious (polished)- polish the steel with metal polish or toothpaste. You can even give the item a mirror-like polish. Test on a small surface first!
Handmade (matte)- soak the steel in cola for 40 minutes to 20 hours. Check regularly and treat with black sandpaper.
Antique (patinated) leave the steel to rust for some time in a damp environment, preferably outside. Remove the red layer of rust, to reveal the corroded top layer.

Please note. After finishing the product yourself, the warranty and return right expire. Celtic WebMerchant is not responsible for the obtained result."
