Product description

This replica sword is based on historical falchions. Few original falchions have been preserved, because they were used up completely. However, they are often depicted in medieval art like in the Maciejowski Bible, so we can conclude that it was a popular weapon. The falchion was the weapon of the regular foot soldier and had no exclusive character, unlike a sword. It was a brutal weapon and comparable to the modern machete. It is funny that in medieval art, bad characters or the enemy are often depicted with a falchion. The falchion is a single-edged weapon with a curvature in the blade and a sharp tip. It was primarily intended for cutting, and the tip was made to pierce chain mail. This falchion has a leather grip and is delivered including scabbard. The semi-sharp blade is made of 1065 tempered carbon steel with a hardness of 48-52 HRC. A beautiful decorative sword for the lover of medieval swords, or to wear with a medieval costume. If the blade is blunted, it is a great battle ready sword for Historical European Martial Arts, reenactment battles and sword fighting. It is also suitable for sword and shield combinations.

Prevent rust and corrosion by oiling your weapons regularly. Remove rust easily with black sandpaper. Remove burrs with a whetstone. Make sure you have removed all burrs before using a battle-ready weapon, as they can cause wounds.

Maintenance & care
Just as with weaponry, you can care for your shoes and leatherware by applying a little Ballistol after cleaning. This prevents the leather from drying out.

Sharpening service

This item is semi-sharp and designed for decorative purposes. It can be made razor sharp at a surcharge. When using the sharpening service, the return right and warranty expires. The extra delivery time is approx. 2 weeks.

Blunting service

The blade of this sword can be blunted (2,5-3 mm) at a surcharge. Please note: although the thickness will be the same as a battle-ready sword, the return right and warranty expires when using the blunting service. Please contact us if you wish to use the blunting service, or make a note at the last step of your shiopping cart. The extra delivery time is approx. 2 weeks.

Tip: How to adjust the finish of your armour and weaponry
Luxurious (polished)- polish the steel with metal polish or toothpaste. You can even give the item a mirror-like polish. Test on a small surface first!
Handmade (matte)- soak the steel in cola for 40 minutes to 20 hours. Check regularly and treat with black sandpaper.
Antique (patinated) leave the steel to rust for some time in a damp environment, preferably outside. Remove the red layer of rust, to reveal the corroded top layer.

Please note. After finishing the product yourself, the warranty and return right expire. Celtic WebMerchant is not responsible for the obtained result."
