Some wore even more than one hairpin. Around the 1st century AD long hair was the fashion for Roman women. This hairpin is a very luxurious jewel that represented the rank of the wearer.
This hairpin is completely handmade of bone. It has a length of 12 cm. The hairpin shows the depiction of a female figure, the figure possibly represented the goddess Venus.
