What is LARPING and how does LARP work?

LARP, short for Live Action Role Play, is a hobby where you enact a story in an active environment. You dress up as your character, the story comes to life, and the elements in the story are enacted on the spot. There is ample room for improvisation on your part. In a Roleplay like Dungeon & Dragons, for instance, you are dressed as your character but the game remains primarily focused on the game board and discussion with other players. In LARP, you do everything live and in person. Often, a LARP is held in a beautiful setting such as a castle, allowing you to immerse yourself even more in the reality of the story and the action. There are gamemasters who monitor the rules and the main storylines, providing you with a guideline as a player.
