The legend of King Arthur is a well-known theme in literature and movies like King Arthur and Mists of Avalon. Historically, King Arthur has been placed by historians in the early Middle Ages, just after the fall of Rome. England was in chaos and Arthur tried to stop the Saxon invasion. This sword is based on swords that were used between AD 500-600. There is much debate about whether King Arthur really existed, or whether he refers to a Roman or a Celtic deity. The sword Excalibur is said to have been forged on the island of Avalon, and Arthur received Excalibur from the Lady of the Lake. This sword has excellent balance and the grip is wrapped in leather and has a brass pommel and cross-guard. The semi-sharp tempered blade is made of 1065 carbon steel with a hardness of 48-52 HRC. It is delivered including a scabbard. A beautiful decorative sword for lovers of the Arthurian legend en to wear with a Arthur costume. When you blunten the blade, it is a great sword for sword fighting.

Prevent rust and corrosion by oiling your weapons regularly. Remove rust easily with black sandpaper. Remove burrs with a whetstone. Make sure you have removed all burrs before using a battle-ready weapon, as they can cause wounds.
Maintenance & care
Just as with weaponry, you can care for your shoes and leatherware by applying a little Ballistol after cleaning. This prevents the leather from drying out.
Sharpening service
This item is semi-sharp and designed for decorative purposes. It can be made razor sharp at a surcharge. When using the sharpening service, the return right and warranty expires. The extra delivery time is approx. 2 weeks.
Blunting service
The blade of this sword can be blunted (2,5-3 mm) at a surcharge. Please note: although the thickness will be the same as a battle-ready sword, the return right and warranty expires when using the blunting service. Please contact us if you wish to use the blunting service, or make a note at the last step of your shopping cart. The extra delivery time is approx. 2 weeks.
Tip: How to adjust the finish of your armour and weaponry
Luxurious (polished)- polish the steel with metal polish or toothpaste. You can even give the item a mirror-like polish. Test on a small surface first!
Handmade (matte)- soak the steel in cola for 40 minutes to 20 hours. Check regularly and treat with black sandpaper.
Antique (patinated) leave the steel to rust for some time in a damp environment, preferably outside. Remove the red layer of rust, to reveal the corroded top layer.
