This helmet is made after several originals that are part of the 12th century chess set excavated on the island of Lewis in Scotland. Helmets like this were used from the 1st century of the 12th century on. The pieces of the Lewis Chessset are derived from Norse warriors, so the helmet could not have been known in Ireland and Scotland. A helmet identical to this model was used around the same period in France, Catalonia and other parts of Spain.
The helmet has extra thick chin straps for protection and wearing comfort. This helmet is custom made, click here to download the size table.
