This brooch is a replica of a 9th century piece found in a monastery near Kilkenny, in Ireland. Similar brooches were worn by both the Irish, the Scottish (Scotti and Picts) and the Scandinavian people.

This brooch is fully handmade and has a diameter of 7,4 cm. It has a pin of 14,5 cm.

Sometimes, the pins were so long, that the Old-Irish (Brehon) laws determined a financial compensation for wounding someone else with it.
