This suit of armour is made after the originals from the Palace Armoury in Malta. These suits of armour were used during the Great Siege of Malta in 1565. During this siege Hospitallers defended the island from an Ottoman force of 48.000 soldiers, they countered attack after attack and thus they kept hold of the island.
This suit of armour is an exact copy of the Italian originals that were used in 1565. It is made of 1,5 mm thick (16 gauge) steel. Suits of armour like this were worn by both musketeers and pikemen.
The suit of armour is finished with rope-shaped edges, they are exact replicas of the ones on the original. The arm harnesses are attached to the pauldrons with a T-shaped clasp. The vambraces can be closed with pushpin constructions. The suit of armour has a goose bellied cuirass and the vambraces are made in the Italian style with a mollusc shell shaped motive. The suit of armour is delivered including a cabasset which is a reproduction of several originals that were worn during the siege of Malta.
The suit of armour can be engraved based on original models for a surcharge.
