This weapon was already used during the Dacian wars in the 1st century AD. The Dacians normally used these scythes for harvesting. In times of war they used their scythes for attacking Romans.

Later, from the late 14th century on, scythes were used in war again. Around this period the tool was fastened to a longer shaft to serve as a pikeline, just as the pole sickle and other agricultural equipment.

The design of this scythe has undergone few changes over the centuries, as a result it can be used for classical re-enactment and, with a longer shaft, for medieval re-enactment.

This scythe has a length of approx. 73 cm and is completely handmade of iron. It weighs approx. 1 kg.
