A beautiful pirate sword from Windlass Steelcrafts, based on swords used in pirate movies like Black Sails and Pirates of the Caribbean. This replica sword is based on historical cutlass swords from the 17th century. The cutlass is a short sword with a curvature in the blade. Pirates and crew of the VOC's trading ships carried such weapons. The cutlass had a sturdy basket to protect the hand during close combat on ships. With the basket one could give the opponent a blow in the face. Davy Jones symbolizes the bottom of the sea, a synonym for drowning or shipwreck. In Pirates of Caribbean, Davy Jones is a character with a face based on Lovecraft's Ctulhu, with octopus tentacles. This pirate cutlass has a dark basket and a ray skin grip. It is delivered including a luxurious suede leather baldric with an image of a Kraken, which refers to Davy Jones and the bottom of the sea. The semi-sharp blade is forged from tempered 1065 carbon steel with a hardness of 48-52 HRC. A great decorative sword for pirate fans, a pirate reenactment or pirate Cosplay. When you blunten the blade, you can use it for sword fighting and for Historical European Martial Arts.

Prevent rust and corrosion by oiling your weapons regularly. Remove rust easily with black sandpaper. Remove burrs with a whetstone. Make sure you have removed all burrs before using a battle-ready weapon, as they can cause wounds.
Maintenance & care
Just as with weaponry, you can care for your shoes and leatherware by applying a little Ballistol after cleaning. This prevents the leather from drying out.

Tip: How to adjust the finish of your armour and weaponry
Luxurious (polished)- polish the steel with metal polish or toothpaste. You can even give the item a mirror-like polish. Test on a small surface first!
Handmade (matte)- soak the steel in cola for 40 minutes to 20 hours. Check regularly and treat with black sandpaper.
Antique (patinated) leave the steel to rust for some time in a damp environment, preferably outside. Remove the red layer of rust, to reveal the corroded top layer.
Please note. After finishing the product yourself, the warranty and return right expire. Celtic WebMerchant is not responsible for the obtained result."
