This belt fitting is based on 14th-15th century originals. The belt fitting is made in the shape of a crotal bell. Bells like this were worn in Europe from the Early Middle Ages onwards. Bells like this were worn in all shapes and sizes. They were frequently attached to wagons and they warned other wagons for oncoming traffic which was very practical on narrow country side roads. They were also worn by individuals and in some fashion trends they were even attached to garments and shoes.
