Coppergate Helm, Museum Replica

This replica helmet of the Anglo-Saxon Coppergate helmet is made by Hanwei. The original dates from the 8th century AD and is excavated in York. It is a unique archaeological piece because just few helmets from this period were found. The brass edge has an inscription saying (translated to English): 'In the name of our Lord Jesus, the holy spirir and God, and to all we say amen, Oshere, Christ.' The original helmet is nowadays part of the collection of the Yorkshire Museum.

This helmet has a chain mail neck protection and a stand. It is completely functional and suitable for a head circumference of 61-62 cm. The helmet is made of 1,2 mm patinated and bronzed rustless steel. It weighs 2,3 kg.

This item is produced in limited quantities only. This means that every piece is unique. Sizes & finish may vary lightly from piece to piece.
