This helmet is based on an Italian burgonet from circa 1580 AD. The original is part of an half armour made in Brescia, Lombardy. This city was after Milan the largest centre of armour production of the Italian peninsula. The original is part of the colleciton of the Museu of Art in Philadelphia.
Similar burgonets were worn during the renaissance by cavalrymen throughout Europe. This burgonet is fully handmade. It can be strapped under the chin with a leather belt and is made of 1,5 mm thick steel.This helmet is custom made, click here to download the size table.
Choosing the size that fits you best
Add 3,5 cm to your head circumference if you wear an arming cap under your helmet.
Add 2,5 cm to your head circumference if you wear a chainmail coif under your helmet.
Add 6 cm to your head circumference if you wear both an arming cap and a chainmail coif under your helmet.
Maintenance & care
Prevent rust and corrosion by oiling your armour regularly. Remove rust easily with black sandpaper.
