This chainmail cap is based on originals from the (early) Middle Ages, seen on medieval works of art like illuminated manuscripts. The steel is blackened as an extra protection against moisture. The coif is made of butted round chainmail rings. The rings are 16 gauge thick and have an inner diameter of 9 mm, traditionally woven in the 4-1 pattern. This chainmail coif offers good protection in reenactment battles. Perfect for Viking reenactment & medieval reenactment.

Maintenance & care
Remove rust from your chainmail by rubbing the rings together (just like when hand-washing clothes, but without water). The rings will grind together and the rust will come off.
Attaching armour & chainmail
To attach your armour or chainmail securely, you can attach leather laces to your gambeson and fasten these to your armour / chainmail. The armour thus remains in position during a fight.
