This bronze jewel is based on a depiction of the Celtic god Tautus on the Gundestrup cauldron. He was the most powerful god in Celtic society. He was kept satisfied by blood sacrifices. He was the god of a.o. the arts and social relations. Tautus was mostly worshipped in Gaul and on the British Isles. His name is based on Proto-Celtic and it means ‘tribe’ or ‘people’.
