This buckler is classified as a Type Ia according to Herbert Schmidt. It has a round shape with straight edges. The first depictions of this type of buckler appear in the early 14th-century Tower manuscript, but these weapons were likely already in use during the 13th century. Bucklers like this remained in use until the 16th century.

This round buckler features a leather covering for additional protection. Bucklers like this were mainly used during the Renaissance, although the type is much older. This weapon is ideally suited for use in combination with a one-handed sword or a bow.

It measures 38 cm in diameter, weighs 2.3 kg, and is 2.0 mm thick.
