Product description

Bamboo is the Japanese symbol for prosperity, purity and innocence. Inspired by the straight growth of this plant, this katana has a minimal curve. The kashira (pommel), fuchi (hilt collar) and tsuba are made of iron and are decorated with stylised, engraved bamboo motive. The tsuba is handmade. The grip decorations (menuki) are made of silvered bronze and contrast with the grip wrapping. The grip is covered with rye skin and wrapped in black silk in hineri-maki style. The seppa, between fuchi and tsuba, is made of silvered brass.
The blade is made in shinogi-zukuri style. It is razor sharp and is made from 1075 carbon steel. Following traditional methods, it is hardened to 60 HRC at the edge, and 40 HRC at the back. It is polished by hand to a mirrorlike finish, and the hamon is clearly visible. The blade has a fuller (bo-hi), which optimises the balance. The habaki is made of silvered, engraved copper and follows the shape of the blade.
The katana is delivered including scabbard in kuroro style. A sword sleeve, padded transport bag and certificate are included in delivery.
The katana is 100 cm (excluding scabbard), with a blade of 71,5 cm and a grip of 28 cm long. It weighs 1200 grams.
Please note: after purchase, it is unfortunately not possible to return this rare sword.
