This pewter badge is made after a 13th-14th century original from Musée de Cluny, Paris. The cross motive is the heraldry of the kingdom of Jerusalem.
The kingdom of Jerusalem was founded in 1099 after the first crusade. In 1249 this kingdom ended because of the Saracene conquests. However, the heraldry of Jerusalem would always continue to play a significant role in Christian society.
