This badge is based on a 15th century original excavated in The Netherlands. Depictions of humane equestrians occur from the 12th century onwards. The equestrian on this badge tries to comfort his horse and carries the bag of grain himself. Strikingly he sits on his horse in the meantime so it is not very efficient. The idea is that the equestrian unburdens his horse and burdens himself instead of his horse or another animal. The background depicts a beautiful mill at a grain field.
