This type of fibula was worn throughout Europe around the 6th century AD. This beautiful art style was used in i.a. Friesian, Langobardic, Merovingian, Frankish and Anglo-Saxon jewellery. These jewels were regularly used for trade. This enameled brooch is a replica of an original, which was used as an Alemannic grave gift in grave 511 in the Alemannic grave field of Weingarten. The brooch has an inlay of two different colours of enamel.
