The pointed shape deflected blows to the sides and offered more space for ventilation holes thanks to its larger surface area. This specimen is a replica of a pig faced bascinet, presumably made between 1360 and 1390, and now part of the collection of Churburg Castle. This type of helmet was worn throughout Europe from the second half of the 14th to the first half of the 15th century, notably during the Hundred Years' War and the conflicts in Northern and Central Italy.

The helmet is made of 1.6 mm steel, with a hinged visor of approximately 1.2 mm secured with pins and reinforced with riveted brass strips. The visor has two sight slits of approximately 9 cm and additional ventilation holes on the right side and at the mouth. Along the edge are brass vervelles for a mail camail (not included). The interior of the helmet is blackened and fitted with an adjustable linen inlay, sewn to the edge.

This is suitable for re-enactment, living history, exhibition and collectors, and completes a late medieval knight or warrior.
