Hand Protection
The hands are one of the most vulnerable body parts during mock combat or historical fighting training. Even when wooden training weapons are used, hands can suffer serious bruising.
Extra Safety with Hand Protection
Arm guards and chest protectors offer protection, but are often not sufficient to absorb all blows or sliding contact.
Leather or padded gloves ensure that the hand is fully covered and all vulnerable points of the fingers, knuckles and palm remain protected.
Gauntlets or mittens offer more protection than leather gloves.
With steel weapons, such as swords or daggers, gloves are essential even during brief contact moments to prevent serious injuries.
Improved Grip and Control
Gloves increase the grip on weapons, especially in damp or cold conditions.
They make it easier to maintain a stable hand position when parrying, striking or maneuvering with the weapon.
