Get the Look: Pixie Rogue

A ragtag group of companions sneaks through the shadows, trying to remain unseen by the guards. They're attempting to infiltrate the castle to free the Pixies being held captive by the sorcerer of the lord. You see, Pixies have fairy dust, which has amazing magical properties. And sorcerers are always trying to find ways to harness the power of fairy dust for themselves and their lords.

One of the guards begins to turn in the direction of the rescue team. They hold their breath... when suddenly the guard turns toward the other direction and grabs his neck. A soft, high-pitched giggle is heard, but there's no one to be seen. The group quickly slips past the distracted guard, into the castle. Inside, they hear the giggle again.

"Well done, Berrygust," mutters the leader of the group, whereupon a small Pixie with bright blue hair and a bow in her hands becomes visible.

Berrygust is a Pixie Rogue, who has made it her mission to rescue her kind from sorcerers and other evildoers. And of course, to save a few other creatures and humans while she's at it. In this blog, we want to show you how to create a look for such a character.

Blouse

Pixie Rogue Dungeons and Dragons

There are many different interpretations of what Pixies look like. One thing that's often common, however, is that they rarely wear heavy or stiff clothing. They're generally lightly dressed. Since Berrygust is a rogue and thus wears armour, we felt that some kind of blouse should be worn under her armour. The blouse used in this look is extra versatile because part of the sleeves are removable. The long version of the sleeve gives a more playful and cute appearance, and the shortened version is more practical when handling weapons.

Skirt

Pixie rogue Dungeons and Dragons

Despite Berrygust being a rogue, we didn't want to completely ignore her background as a playful and light forest creature. That's why we decided to give her a long skirt. A Pixie doesn't need to be able to run or climb, so a skirt wouldn't hinder her mobility at all.

Fabric Belt

Pixies love to dress up. They like to add all sorts of details to their outfit. As a rogue, too many frivolities wouldn't be very practical, so Berrygust has simpler accessories. They still have a connection to nature through color and material, like this green braided belt.

Armour

Dungeons and Dragons clothing

In many myths and folklore, pixies can be repelled by iron or other types of metal. That's why steel armour wouldn't make much sense in a Pixie look. Leather would be a much better alternative. Pixies are also often seen as forest creatures, so leather works much better to show their bond with nature than steel.

Vambraces

When shooting a bow, there's always the risk of whiplash from the bowstring. That's why archers wear an arm guard to protect their forearm. Vambraces, on the other hand, are typically a part of plate armour, to protect the arms in battle. In fantasy costumes, you can play with these items. Leather vambraces on an archer who also handles other weapons would certainly be within the realm of possibilities.

Also when creating a character that can't handle steel, like a Pixie, leather vambraces are a perfect way to add extra protection.

Headband

Another way to give a nod to Berrygust's connection with nature is through accessories. Leaf designs and natural materials would be beautiful details to add. This leather headband not only checks those boxes, but the shape around the cheeks also gives the idea that it's some kind of armour.

Bow

Pixies actually don't like violence and weapons. Mischief, certainly, but that's where they draw the line. Only on very rare occasions do Pixies resort to weapons. Long-range weapons would be more logical for a character that doesn't really like to use them. This way, they can keep themselves at a distance from the fight. With Pixies that can turn invisible, they would also be much harder to hit when attacking from a distance.

Quiver

Every archer needs a quiver, even a Pixie. By wearing it on a belt, the quiver doesn't get in the way during flight and is still easy to reach.

Throwing Knives

Having a backup weapon is always a good idea, but there are limited options when it comes to long-range weapons. A set of throwing knives is the perfect backup for a Pixie Rogue who prefers not to get too close to the action.

Pixie Rogue Wig

Pixies are very mischievous creatures. They enjoy playing pranks on others and are very playful. A colorful, vibrant hairstyle is a great way to incorporate that mischievous side into your look.

Ears

Of course, a Pixie look wouldn't be complete without a pair of Pixie ears. Pixies have pointed ears, like elves, but their ears are usually much longer. Some of our ears even come with glue.

Are these ears a bit too long for your taste? You can check out our other ears on this page:
