Laces like these were used for a variety of purposes during the Middle Ages, especially the Late Middle Ages and the Renaissance. These laces were used to attach armor parts to the gambeson or acketon or mail parts. With laces like these, the armor remained firmly in place during battle.
Such laces were also used for clothing and shoes. For example, chausses could be attached to braies. Such good laces were also always handy for women's clothing, for example when buttoning up clothing.
The ends of the laces, the aglets, are made of brass. These are exact replicas of medieval originals. The laces come in a set of 5 and are extra long: 150 cm.
