Product description
This axe head is modeled after various early medieval examples. Classified as Petersen Type I, the blade is thicker, shorter, and less sharp than Type H. Axes of this type were highly functional, likely developed originally for woodworking. They were in use from around 900 to 1000 AD.
This combat-ready axe head is hand-forged. The cutting edge is blunt and the corners are rounded.
The blade measures 15.5 cm long and up to 9.7 cm wide, with a cutting edge thickness of 3–4 mm. The eye for the haft measures 35 × 24 mm. Weight: 900 grams.
