Step back in time and try out an old skill that medieval craftspeople, citizens, and outlaws used. This challenge dares you to learn something new, rediscover something old, or simply have fun with techniques that were passed down for centuries. From calligraphy to blacksmithing, there's a skill for every participant, regardless of experience or material.
Choose a skill and let your creativity speak. Possible skills include, for example:
Calligraphy: write medieval letters or runes on parchment or paper.
Fire making: show how you start a fire the traditional way (safe and controlled).
Knot techniques: learn historical knots, rope techniques or macramé-like patterns.
Bellows or blacksmith improvisation: try a small blacksmithing technique or show how you use a bellows to heat metal.
You can film or photograph the results and share them as a report with the community. Tell or write briefly what you did, what the process involved, and why you chose this skill. That way you'll inspire others to discover their own medieval talents too.
