Viking swords were derived from the German types of spathae, swords from the Iron Age. They were quite long, had a solid protection and a strong blade. It is presumed that they are the predecessors of the later knight swords and they were bought all over Europe. A Viking sword generally had a wavy pommel with three lobes, long straight edges, a wide fuller and a short grip. The sword was short, probably for a better speed. A lot of Viking swords were decorated with inscriptions or images.

This Viking sword weighs approx. 1,3 kg. Its length is 88 cm, the blade is 71 cm and the cross-guard is 9,5 cm.

This sword is a Petersen type R.

This sword is custom made.

Zéér mooi zwaard, ligt zéér goed in de hand en is uitstekend geschikt voor "Viking-style" zwaardgevechten.
Bij het mijne is het heft met bruin leer omwikkeld, is heel mooi.
