This axehead is a replica of several originals from the late Viking Age. The axehead was originally developed in Scandinavia and dates from the 2ndhalf of the 10thor the 1sthalf of the 11thcentury.
This Viking axehead is made of 512 layers of Damascus steel. It weighs 0,4 kg and measures 15,5 x 8,5 cm. Damascus steel is made of several iron and steel types that are alternately arranged.
This axehead is a Petersen type M.
