This katana is inspired by the rōnin, samurai without a master. The most well-known of these warriors were the 47 rōnin, who revenged their master's death and formed a symbol of the loyalty of the samurai-warrior.
The katana has a simple, elegant and traditional finish. The grip is covered with rye skin and wrapped with black Japanese silk in hineri-maki style. The tsuba, fuchi (hilt collar) and kashira (pommel) are made of black lacquered iron.
The blade is made in shinogi-zukuri style. It is razor sharp and is made from 1075 carbon steel. Following traditional methods, it is hardened to 60 HRC at the edge, and 40 HRC at the back. It is polished by hand to a mirrorlike finish, and the hamon is clearly visible. The blade has a fuller (bo-hi), which optimises the balance. The habaki is made of copper and follows the shape of the blade.
The scabbard is made in the kuroishime style, with matt black lacquer and shining black lacquer drops. A sword sleeve, padded transport bag and certificate are included in delivery.
The katana is 102,5 cm long (excluding scabbard), with a blade of 69 cm and a grip of 29 cm long. It weighs 1100 grams (excluding scabbard).
