This woollen tunica is made after several originals of Roman tunicae from the second half of the 1st century BC to the 2nd half of the 1st century AD. Examples can be found in the Roman images in Bonn, on the Luxor fresco in Egypt and at the excavations of Legio VIII Augusta in the fortification of Vindonissa in Switzerland.
The tunica is available both in red and white, possibly only the red garments were used during battle. Red was not only the colour of the war god Mars, it was made of rubia tinctorum that was mined in the area of Rome. If requested the tunica can also be made of linen or in other colours.
