This Roman outfit is based on the garments that were worn during the 1st century AD. It is already strongly influenced by the conquest of the northern provinces.
The tunica is based on an original excavated in Mons Claudianus.
The paenula is made after an original found in Qasr Ibrim (nowadays Egypt). It is made of felt wool and can be closed with buttons.
The fascia ventralis, or waist band, is made after depictions on several mosaics and tomb stones from the 1st and 2nd century AD.
The trousers (bracae) reach to just above the knee. The originals are found in Valkenburg.
The socks are made after originals from Vindolanda.

Washing prescriptions: Hand wash, possibly wool wash program in the washing machine. Wool has self-maintaining properties and needs only be washed when heavily soiled. Otherwise, you can just ventilate your garments in the open air.
