This comb is a replica of a Roman original. Combs like this occurred all over Europe around the 3rd and 4th century. The comb is richly decorated with bird heads at the ends, typical for the Late Roman art.
The comb is completely handmade of bone and has an inscription of the name IVLIA VHEE. Presumably this was the name of the woman who owed the comb. Romans often inscribed their name in objects they owned. The comb measures 9,5 cm just like the original.
This item is a museum replica.
This item is produced in limited quantities only. This means that every piece is unique. Sizes & finish may vary lightly from piece to piece.
