This chalice is made after an original from the 1st century AD. Chalices like this were produced in the south of Gaul. In the workshops (officinae) techniques of semi mass production were used, as a result a lot of these chalices have been excavated.
This chalice is made of red earthenware. It contains the inscription Sigillum, which means 'figurine' or 'relief''. This presumably refers to the beautiful dancers depicted on the chalice. Its height is 14 cm and it has a diameter of 13 cm. The chalice is completely handmade after the authentic craft.
