This flask is a replica of a 1st century Roman balsamarium found in the Cologne region. Such balsamaria were used between the 1st and 3rd centuries AD throughout the Roman empire to keep perfume or eau de Cologne in. Roman women were regularly portrayed with a balsamarium.
This glass balsamarium is hand blown and is 10 to 13 cm high.
