This helmet is made after an original from 79 BC found in Pompeii. Helmets like this were worn by the provocator. The provocator is a medium to heavy armed gladiator. Juvenaris mentions a female provocator (provocatrix) in his Satire VI.
This helmet is made of 1,6 mm thick steel. It has no leather inlay because there is no prove that the original had one. This helmet is suitable for a head circumference of 59 up to 64.
This item is a museum replica.
