This chest protection is made after a 1st century original. Chest plates like this were worn by the provocator, a medium to heavy armed gladiator. Juvenaris mentions a femake provocator (provocatrix) in his satire VI.
The chest plate is made of steel and bronze and has a thickness of 1,3 mm. It measures 44 x 33 cm. It has a neck opening of 11 x 18 cm and can easily be adjusted to the right size.
