This leg armour is a replica of originals excavated in Visby. A bloody battle was fought in the Danish town of Visby in 1361. This brigandine was presumably worn by a low to middle class infantryman. Leg armour like this was worn all over Europe around the 2nd half of the 14th century. They are i.a. depicted on several 14th century tombstones, for example Sir Thomas Cheyne's (1375) and Günther con Schwarzburg's (1349).

The leg armour is made of leather and provided with 1,4 mm thick iron plates. It can easily be fastened to the legs with straps. The knee cops are made of 1,6 mm thick steel and are provided with roundels for extra protection of the back of the knee.

Tip: You can make extra holes at the upside of this leg armour, to attach this armour to the belt, chainmail or other armour parts.
