This handmade lock is a replica of a lock of a Viking chest excavated in Mästermyr. Vikings used their chests for storaging goods and protecting them from water and wind, but they also functioned as seats.

Around the 10th century locks were valuable technical pieces. Similar locks (and keys for locks like this) are excavated in Jorvik, Haithabu, Mästermyr and Birka.

This lock is completely handmade of iron. It measures 34 x 9 cm and has an upper hinge of 12 cm.

This item is produced in limited quantities only. This means that every piece is unique. Sizes & finish may vary lightly from piece to piece.
