This sword is made after originals from approx. 1450. It is strikingly high developed and was used when the canon and the pike could not win the battle. In that case these luxurious fast swords could be used with a striking precision. This sword is very light weighted and it could stab rapidly through the weak points of a suit of armour.
Its length is 99 cm with a blade of 83 cm and a cross-guard of 22 x 9 cm. The hilt of the rapier developed from the large finger ring that is fastened to the cross-guard. The finger ring protected the fingers that could be put on the blade for fencing, just like the rapier. The sword weighs just 1,1 kg.
This sword is an Oakeshott type XVIIIc.
