This type of helmet was used from the 16th century on by the Turkish armies. During the wars between the Ottoman Empire and the Balkan countries the helmet was taken over by the Hussars of Austria-Hungary. Nowadays a few of these originals are part of the collection of the National Historic Museum in Vienna.
The helmet offers an optimal protection and a good field of view. The cheek flaps can be adjusted to the right size and the nosepiece protects from blows in the face.
It can be fastened under the chin with a strap.
