In the thirteenth century people aimed after producing a combined slashing and thrusting weapon and the battle axe could still be recognised in the halberd. In the fourteenth century a hook was placed at the back side to pull enemy horsemen from their horse. As a result infantrymen suddenly became a serious enemy of the cavalry. Descriptions tell us that both a man and his horse could be cleft with just one blow of the halberd. Experienced infantrymen could drive their halberd through a suit of armour with one blow.

The length of this halberd is 198 cm. The leather below the blade served for collecting the enemy blood that ran from the blade so that the shaft wouldn?t become slippery. The halberd weighs approx. 5 kg.
