The Grosses Messer or large knife was mainly used between the 14th and 16th century in Germany. Because it was a relatively cheap sword common people fought with it and used it for daily life.

The slightly bended blade is handmade of carbon steel. The grip is made of wood. The length of the Grosses Messer is 101 cm with a blade of 75 cm and the width of the blade is 4,3 cm. It weighs 1,6 kg including the scabbard.
