This barbute is a replica of an original that was made between 1450 and 1470 by Antonio Missaglia, a Milanese armourer. The original is nowadays part of the Wallace Collection in London. The original of this helmet was made by the Milanese Missaglia family. The Missaglia family is one of the most succesful Milanese armourer families. In 1463 Francesco Missaglia sended a shipment containing twenty eight barbutes (sallets) to Engeland. Probably this barbute was one of them.
The helmet is made of battle-ready steel and ha a leather inlay for wearing comfort. It is made of 1,3 mm thick steel and offers the face a good protection without limiting the field of view.
This helmet is available in the sizes M or L. Size M is suitable for a head circumference up to 61 cm, size L for a head circumference up to 63 cm.

Add 3,5 cm to your head circumference if you wear an arming cap under your helmet.
Add 2,5 cm to your head circumference if you wear a chainmail coif under your helmet.
Add 6 cm to your head circumference if you wear both an arming cap and a chainmail coif under your helmet.
Maintenance & care
Prevent rust and corrosion by oiling your armour regularly. Remove rust easily with black sandpaper.
