This bascinet is made after several early 14th century depictions of Gaelic warriors around the area of the Irish Sea. It was mainly worn by the galloglass. The helmet is also depicted on several French works of art.
The visor of the helmet has a point in the middle that is derived from the earlier nasal helmet. Helmets like this were the first bascinets and they had a number of advantages over the great helmet and the bucket helmet. This helmet is custom made, click here to download the size table.
