Horns like this were mainly used during the early Middle Ages. They were both used for hunting and warfare, for communication and intimidation. Signal horns were used by i.a. the Vikings, Anglons, Anglo-Saxons, Picts, Celts and Franks.
This signal horn is a replica of a 9th century Anglo-Saxon original excavated in England. This horn is provided with a brass mouth piece and a brass edge around the ends. Its length is 40 to 45 cm.
