This cup is made after a Frankish original found in Dorestad (Wijk bij Duurstede) in The Netherlands. Cups like this were used all over Northern Europe and were presumably made by the Franks. Originals are excavated in i.a. Cologne and Birka. Cups like this were presumably used between the 7th and 9th century.
This cup is completely handmade with clay from the Rhinelands. It has a diameter of 23 cm and its height is 11 cm.
