This bust is an original replica of Augustus Octavius when he was still young. The original is part of the Gutmanncollection in Berlin. These busts were often painted to make them appear lifelike.
Augustus (23 september 63 BC - Nola, 19 august 14 AD) was the second cousin of Julius Caesar and became the first emperor of Rome. He innovated a lot of reforms, of which the Roman Empire would profit for hundreds of years.
This bust is completely handmade of alabaster and its height is 30 cm. It is delivered including a black pedestal.
